“Welcome to all the Pleasures that delight, of ev’ry Sense, the grateful Appetite”
That opening line of Henry Purcell’s 1683 tribute to St. Cecilia describes how music appeals to not just our sense of hearing, but also to our sense of sight, touch, smell, taste, and beyond. This program will feature Purcell’s “Welcome to all the Pleasures,” complete with string quartet, before exploring the sense of smell in Benjamin Britten’s famous “Five Flower Songs,” and the sense of taste in the sea shanty “Drunken Sailor” and Sesame Street’s “If Moon Was Cookie,” made famous by Cookie Monster and arranged in the Barbershop quartet style. There is something for everyone in this sensational program and we hope to see you there! You can pre-order tickets at at discounted rate online.
